Chennai International Book Fair 2026 attracts delegates from 102 countries
The Chennai International Book Fair (CIBF) 2026 opened with participation from authors and publishers from 102 countries, marking its largest event to date. Speakers emphasized the importance of translated literature in fostering cultural exchanges and highlighted the CIBF's role as a platform for such exchanges. The fair has seen significant growth since its inception in 2023, with over 2,000 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed and more than 200 Indian authors having their works translated into over 50 international languages. The Tamil Nadu government is actively promoting the translation of Tamil literature into foreign languages through grants and initiatives to support the industry.
