Telangana Speaker dismisses disqualification pleas against two more MLAs
Gaddam Prasad Kumar, the Telangana Assembly Speaker, dismissed disqualification petitions filed by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) against two of its legislators, Kale Yadaiah and Pocharam Srinivas Reddy. The BRS has alleged that these legislators switched allegiance to the ruling Congress. The Supreme Court issued a contempt notice to the Speaker for not complying with its directive to expedite the decision on the disqualification pleas. K T Rama Rao, the BRS working president, accused the Congress of backing defectors and attempting to corrupt the Speaker's institution. The BRS vowed to continue its struggle until those who "betrayed" the people are held accountable.
