Lokayukta registers case over large-scale government land scam in Nagamangala taluk
Large-scale land scam with significant financial loss to the state is a serious concern.
Lokayukta Police in Karnataka have registered a criminal case against 11 individuals, including serving and former government officials and private individuals, for alleged manipulation of land records and illegal grant of public land. The estimated loss to the state exchequer is around ₹200 crore. Justice B. Veerappa, of the Lokayukta court, took suo motu cognisance after receiving public complaints and conducted searches across seven locations in Mandya, Mysuru, Chamarajanagar, and Maddur. The investigation revealed the use of forged documents to illegally grant government land, with a total of 320 acres allegedly involved.
