Kerala Assembly Speaker’s office seeks legal opinion on disqualifying Palakkad MLA Rahul Mamkootathil
Speaker A. N. Shamsheer of the Kerala Legislative Assembly announced that he will seek legal advice on whether to disqualify Rahul Mamkootathil, a Palakkad MLA, ahead of the final Budget Session. The decision comes after recurrent accusations against Mamkootathil. The LDF's T.K. Ramakrishnan demanded his resignation from the Assembly while CPI(M) leader M V Govindan criticized the Congress for providing political cover to Mamkootathil, calling it a "fig leaf." Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan urged Mamkootathil to resign and questioned the UDF's stance on the matter.
