Jana Nayagan movie release row: Congress leaders criticise delay of censor board clearance for Vijay-starrer

Congress leaders, including B. Manickam Tagore and S. Jothimani, criticized the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for denying a censor certificate to the Vijay-starrer "Jana Nayagan," arguing that it is an attack on freedom of expression and a political move. They accused the government of using institutions like the CBFC, ED, CBI, and Income Tax department as tools to silence dissent and promote BJP-RSS propaganda. Praveen Chakravarty, chairperson of the All India Professionals’ Congress, also condemned the action, citing a 2017 warning from Rahul Gandhi about the suppression of Tamil culture.
