Thirupparankundram row: T.N. government to appeal in Supreme Court against Madras HC order, says Minister Regupathy

S. Regupathy, Tamil Nadu Minister for Natural Resources, announced the government's intention to appeal a Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court order regarding lighting a lamp at a stone pillar near a dargah on Thirupparankundram hill. Regupathy argued that the court should have examined historical precedents before issuing such an order and claimed the practice was against tradition and had no basis in law. He also dismissed allegations of corruption by DMK ministers, citing a memorandum submitted to Governor R.N. Ravi by Edappadi K. Palaniswami, AIADMK general secretary and Leader of the Opposition.
