Govt. urged to conduct probe into construction of check dams during BRS regime

Ch. Vijaya Ramana Rao, a Peddapalli Congress MLA, urged the State government to investigate the construction of check dams across several streams and rivulets during the BRS government, citing alleged poor quality and design flaws that led to damage or destruction in Peddapalli district. Irrigation Minister N. Uttam Kumar Reddy stated that a vigilance probe had already been ordered following a representation by Manthani MLA D. Sridhar Babu. The Telangana Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2026, introduced by Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao on behalf of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, faced opposition from AIMIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi, who accused the Centre of unfairly treating Telangana under the GST framework and staged a walkout in protest.
