India in Ongoing Chabahar Port Discussions Amid Maritime Security Concerns

At a press briefing following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the SCO summit in Bishkek, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri stated that India is in ongoing discussions to secure a sustainable path for the Chabahar Port project amid regional conflicts and regulatory changes. Misri highlighted India's support for peace efforts and its concerns over maritime security issues, including recent attacks on merchant vessels resulting in loss of Indian lives. He also noted that bilateral trade between India and Iran continues through private entities navigating international pressures.
