
Himachal student death: CM talks to bereaved family, pledges fair probe
A student's death raises concerns about potential abuse of power and institutional failure.
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu assured the family of the deceased 19-year-old Dalit student that a thorough and transparent investigation into her death would be conducted. The Himachal Pradesh Government suspended an Assistant Professor (Geography) in connection with the case, while the University Grants Commission (UGC) has formed a fact-finding committee to investigate. The National Commission for Women has also taken suo motu cognizance of the case and demanded an action-taken report from the state authorities.
