Several people feared dead in rock collapse in Odisha stone quarry

A portion of a stone quarry in Odisha's Dhenkanal district collapsed on Saturday evening, resulting in feared fatalities. Workers were engaged in drilling and exploration at the time of the incident. Rescue operations are ongoing with assistance from local fire service teams, ODRAF, dog squads, and machinery. Dhenkanal Collector Ashish Ishwar Patil and SP Abhinav Sonkar have arrived to supervise the rescue efforts. Leader of Opposition Naveen Patnaik expressed condolences for the lost lives and called for investigations into the incident's cause and safety measures.
