Additional Director-General of Police (Law and Order) R. Hitendra confirmed that the bullet recovered from the deceased Congress worker in Ballari was not fired by a police weapon, stating that stone-pelting and firing by private gunmen were involved in the clash. Five firearms belonging to private gunmen have been seized and their licenses are being verified. The incident has led to the suspension of Ballari Superintendent of Police Pavan Nejjur for alleged lapses in handling the situation. The Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah, ordered a detailed investigation into the clash and directed officials to submit a report on the ownership of the firearm used.
