On Monday, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay apologised in the Assembly for a breach of protocol by Forest Minister RV Ranjith Kumar, who referred to late Chief Minister M Karunanidhi without customary honorifics. The opposition DMK protested immediately. During a debate, Ranjith Kumar also criticised past cash-for-votes strategies and mentioned distributing up to Rs 1,500 per vote in previous elections.
