State defended Godavari water right vigorously against AP’s diversion plan: Uttam

N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, Telangana's Irrigation Minister, stated that the state has taken a series of legal and administrative measures to defend its water rights in the ongoing inter-state dispute over Andhra Pradesh's proposed diversion of Godavari waters for the Polavaram project expansion. These actions include letters to the Union Ministry of Jal Shakti (MoJS) and the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), objections raised with central bodies like the CWC and GRMB, and a Supreme Court petition seeking to halt all works on the PBLP/PNLP and related expansions. Reddy emphasized that these proactive steps demonstrate Telangana's commitment to protecting its allocated water share and safeguarding future irrigation projects.
