On Thursday, Sukhbir Singh Badal, chief of Shiromani Akali Dal, was attacked in Nanded by a man pretending to be a devotee at Gurudwara Mata Sahib Devan Ji Mugat. The attacker, identified as Jaspal Singh Teja Singh Aidal, used a kirpan and aimed for Badal's chest; Police Inspector Santosh Vaijnath Kendre intervened, foiling the attack. Badal suffered minor hand injuries while Kendre was injured in both hands. The FIR classified it as an attempt to kill. Aidal surrendered after the incident.
