Khaleda Zia: Hundreds of thousands mourn Bangladesh's ex-prime minister at state funeral
Hundreds of thousands of people gathered in Dhaka to pay their final respects to former Bangladesh Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, who died at 80. India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Pakistan's Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, and Bhutan's Foreign Minister Lyonpo DN Dhungyel were among the dignitaries present at the state funeral. Zia's body was laid to rest next to her husband, who was assassinated in 1981, after a career marked by political turmoil and a long-standing feud with rival leader Sheikh Hasina. Her son Tarique Rahman is expected to lead the Bangladesh Nationalist Party if they regain power after the upcoming elections.
