FIR filed over 2-year-old doctor's murder as West Bengal CM demands fresh probe

On August 10, Barrackpore City Police registered an FIR following a complaint by the father of a doctor who was sexually assaulted and murdered two years ago at R.G. Kar Medical College in Kolkata. The complaint, filed after West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari asked for a fresh investigation into her hurried cremation, names three individuals including former MLA Nirmal Ghosh. Police will investigate allegations of criminal conspiracy and destruction of evidence separately from the ongoing CBI probe.
