M.V. Govindan, CPI(M) State secretary, accused the CMO of harbouring synthetic drug peddlers and highlighted the “rot” in Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan’s office following the arrest of Youth Congress leaders Muhammad Hussien, P.A. Abdul Salam, and P. Abbas on August 12, 2026. Govindan alleged they managed the Chief Minister's social media accounts.
