On August 10, 2026, five devotees were killed and a total of 41 people injured in separate road accidents involving pilgrims and Kanwariyas in Uttar Pradesh. Accidents occurred in Kaushambi (one dead, 30 injured), Barabanki (two dead, one injured), Kasganj (two dead, one injured), Pratapgarh (six injured), and Maharajganj (three injured). In Kaushambi, a pickup vehicle carrying pilgrims overturned on National Highway-19. In Barabanki, two devotees died after a tractor-trolley collided with their motorcycle near Dadanpur village. Relatives alleged ambulance delay in Barabanki. In Kasganj, two Kanwariyas were killed when their motorcycle hit a car. In Pratapgarh, six Kanwariyas were injured as their vehicle overturned.
