
Congress legislator T.B. Jayachandra unexpectedly becomes pro-tem Speaker of Karnataka Assembly
On August 9, T.B. Jayachandra, a Congress legislator from Sira who was upset at not being included in the Cabinet, agreed to be the pro-tem Speaker of Karnataka Legislative Assembly after meeting Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot on Sunday. He will take charge on Monday and remain until a new Speaker is elected during the Monsoon Session starting August 13. The Congress has nominated G.S. Patil for Speaker and A.S. Ponnanna for Deputy Speaker.
